after that, i went to have my lunch with one of my friend that stay nearby.
upon arrived the hawker stall, it is quite coincidence that i saw one of my ex-classmate that just graduate from SHU not long ago and we have some great chat.
somehow i do get some news and updates from him about other's friends.
actually i wanted to ask "something" but did not have the courage to ask since it was a long time ago story.
anyways, it was quite proud+envy to heard one of my friend working for Leo Burnett Malaysia branch.
at first i not really know what is the company about but it seems like the Ernst and Young company rank.
it can be describe in a way like most of the accounting student hope to work for Ernst & Young (EY) while marketing+advertising student hope to work in Leo Burnett where both is a big company.
upon back home, i research a while about the Leo Burnett company and found something interesting whereby the founder - Leo Burnett (21 October 1891 – 7 June 1971) was an advertising executive which is also one among of the most "creative" men in the advertising business.
moreover, the Leo Burnett company is famous for its employee retention because it has a long standing reputation for keeping employees at their company and according to a company executive "new staffers are assigned to their first account" for life that layoffs are very rare.
furthermore, it is quite interesting to read the Apple story from their website saying that "Welcome to Leo Burnett visitors since 5th August 1935, when the man Leo Burnett first opened the doors to his new agency in the middle of the Depression and the cynics prophesied that, "It won't be long till Leo Burnett is selling apples on the street corner instead of giving them away."
Leo Burnett was not to be swayed in his belief and vision and he said, "When you’re on your economic bottom, the only way to go is up." where he was right and today, Leo Burnett is the 4th largest communications network in the world and the apples still continue to welcome visitors across each and every one of our 95 offices.
during the afternoon, i procrastinate by listening back on the Chan Fong's (大城心事) story sharing.
well, i just can treat those story as a lesson for improving myself to be a better person.
perhaps i had understand now about why girls tend to like those guys that is older than them because they is more mature unlike me who is so "childish" to keep whine about my life.
however, it is quite "sucks" to discover more and more about myself and maybe this is why "the girl" that i like did not choose me. (I need to be stronger)
anyways, i told myself that one day, i will be the "mature" man and my journey still have a long way to go instead like having the thought of "i had lost a lot when compared with the guy that same age with me" right?
on the other hand, there is a video that i find meaningful that title "The Science of Procrastination and How To Manage It" as video below or the link >>> Here.
Let's face it, you're likely watching this video in an effort to avoid some other task. You're procrastinating to learn how to stop procrastinating. The clock is ticking, but why can't you seems to stop. Through the psychological causes are still debated, there’s a human tendency to over or underestimate the value of a reward based on its temporal proximity. This is often referred to as "temporal discounting." For example, if i offered you a hundred dollars today or a hundred in a month, most will take the hundred and run.
But what if instead i offered you a hundred dollar in a year or hundred and ten in a year and one month. Suddenly you might say to yourself that if i can wait a year, i can wait the extra month, but the time and value different are exact same in the example. It turns out that human motivation is highly influenced by how imminent the rewards is perceived to be, meaning the further away a reward is, the more you discount its value. This is often referred to as "present bias" or "hyperbolic discounting." So being on Facebook, Reddit, Twitter or Youtube is more rewarding than a perfect score on your test until temporal proximity increase the value of your test and you cram, all night. On top of this, every time something enjoyable happens, you get a dose of Dopamine which modifies the neuron in your brain making you more likely to repeat the behavior. The problem is video games or browsing the internet provides many small quick and continuous reward, unlike your term essay which is a one time future reward.
So how do you overcome the intrinsic urge to put off so many task. Unfortunately, there isn't just one solution but try rewarding yourself in intervals with a snack, internet of other enjoyable activities. The Pomodoro technique make use of a timer, worked for 25 minutes straight, and when you're done this, give yourself the reward in a 5 minutes break, then start the working clock again. Gradually increase the amount of work time you put in will improve your high level of executive functioning. Acknowledging your procrastination, your future self will procrastinate just like the picture below.
Reinforcing that you want to do it minimizes in decision. Often time, procrastination is a symptom, not a cause and the power of being properly motivated can take you far. Finally, if you can, remove the temptations. Turn off the internet, uninstall your favourite games or work somewhere else. Putting obstacles in the way of your procrastination tools can be a great trick to keep you on track.
somehow i had told myself to not "procrastinate" so much and decided to go to Tarc Library for study around 4pm.
however, i just manage to study a while at the individual study zone because the library closed at 5pm.
as i arrive back home, i do feel quite tired and went to take a nap.
the moment i woke up again was 7.45pm and i just cook some instant noodles as my lunch although knowing that it is not healthy to have such food.
besides, the "procrastinate" disease seems to came back as i was distracted with the "Robot Enthiran 2010" movie that my housemate watching.
as i walk back to my room, i was distracted with another short film video about "Sex and the City (欲望都市:一个女人与各类男人的情色史) as shown below or the link >>> Here.
seriously this is how all my times flies although knowing that my task is to memorize all the Entrepreneurship guideline for the coming test at this Monday.
in fact, i do understand myself about the reason why i prefer going out somewhere else to study instead of staying at home to study.
at last, i think i can manage to maintain my 365 post for this year 2012 although this year was quite special to have 366 days for every four year.
at last, Happy New Year 2013 in advance and feel my blogging style seems to changed to public although i know my first intention is for my own personal recording diary.
in fact, i still need to listen those "sweet talks" at midnight despite i don't like it but just keep in my heart instead of telling my room mate.
